      hello all, i have several johnsons and evinrudes from the 50’s and 60’s.are there special tools to adjust the ignition coil gap or is there a shortcut.thanks

        If you are referring to the air gap between the coil heels and the magnets on the flywheel… Yes there is a reproduction tool. Click the link below.

            Definitely buy both tools. Neither one is really necessary, but they make the job so much easier and give perfect results every time. I wouldn’t set the ignition on an OMC without them.

              timing tool is great and precise .. I purchased one.

              precision is also obtainable manually using the VOM or test bulb ( a simple battery and bulb in series ) test procedure

              so it all depends on how frequent you need it
