      Hey fellas i have picked up a lauson twin outboard with no spark it looks like it has a replacement coil my question is should the ground and the wire to the points be connected at the same point on the coil i dont see any other leads coming from the coil thanks

            The black wire is not connected to the braided wire correct. if so, the braided wire goes to ground and the black wire to points and condenser goes ti points also.

                      Maybe it’s just an illusion… the insulated wire may just be in close proximity to the ground solder lug. Did you check with a ohm meter? should be seeing a low resistance thru the primary winding, like 2 to 5 ohms. If you get “zero” you have a problem.

                        Hi dave i haven’t forgotten about u i think i might try the maytag twin coil that i have seen on some other forums here anyone know what one exactly ? I am looking at this one … picture attached…
