      When replacing impeller is it a good thing to replace the impeller plate? Have not taken apart yet but looking at diagram it looks like while have it apart it may be a good thing to do.

        I only replace the plate if it is worn bad as viewed by the naked eye. Looking just polished up is OK, but if metal is gone, water can bypass the impeller. Wear usually comes from a lot of sand running through it – hitting lake bottom in shallow water.. Saltwater will do a number on the plate also. The impeller housing can also be worn due to sand.

          The aluminum housing is far more subject to wear than the stainless plate.
