I was contacted by a member in florida(I’m a somewhat recent transplant to North Carolina for Washington State) about replacing the water pump in his Mk10A. I’ve had it for a little while and after meeting the pump replacement kit from Vintageoutboard.com and steeling my nerves to do one by myself as the only other one I’ve done was by my mentors side back in Washington which coincidentally is the owner of Vintageoutboard.com. I’m nearing the end of this adventure and look forward to test running it once I get a good stretch of weather. Not as hard as I anticipated but the right tools made it go alot easier. Now to figure which of mine to tackle next(I have about 6 or 7 in varying models and Hp ranges.)
Yup, I have one of those automatics also. Be sure that the vent hole pictured is not plugged. (see picture- if I can load it) It directs water toward the pump and it also drains water away from pump when it is out of the water. Nice runners for sure. I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I rescued it!
Lab Guy,
I have a 20 hp slanter auto trans also, second owner. I hope to get out of my wheelchair to build it soon. It was grandpas motor bought new never overheated & never been hacked. West nile hurt me bad. Can’t wait to build again. Oh a 1958 model.
