Thanks, I was hoping it was an "obsolete" bolt size of days
of yore, and not some early 20th century conspiracy
where Johnson plotted to to switch over to metric threads
on the rope sheaves so only Johnson Service Centers could
      work on them! 😮

Made an adapter plate as Garry mentioned.
I used a 1/4 inch round plate I already had
cut out for something. I have the puller
snugged down pretty tight, gave it a few
raps with the hammer, repeated, etc.,
but it hasn’t "popped" yet. I’m using the
14-24 brass bolts that were in the flywheel
to hold down the adapter plate, so I hesitate
to tighten things much further. Will let
it sit with tension on it over night and
        try some more tomorrow!

Someone once told me to use the rope sheave as the puller by leaving it in place and back the center bolt (that has a lip on it) off.

The lip will catch the sheave and pop the flywheel off. It worked great on my K-50 and K-80 (both of which had been on for many, many, many years)

My flywheel nut was the type that could be used to
pull the flywheel off, but I didn’t want to take the
chance of busting the rope sheave. There’s only
"one" original in the world for this motor 😉
The flywheel did pop off this morning after
re-tightening the puller and giving it a couple of whacks!
