Johnson HD-25 2.5 HP timing

The 1946 to 1950 Johnson 2.5 HP has the magnet for the magneto in the center around of the crankshaft and not on the flywheel. Is there a trick or special procedure for setting the ignition points?

Basically, just points to .020″ gap

If you have removed the points to clean them, make sure the rounded end of the plunger rod goes towards the points and the flat end is towards the crankshaft.
