Thanks for the reply.  I’ll be sure to use that 16:1 mixture.  I originally thought it was 24:1.

Does anyone know if the Johnson 2.5’s used the same rod and piston as the 3hp?  Thanks

How did you post this manual. I am trying to post a QD manual but don’t know how.

If it’s a PDF file under 2MB in size you can post it in  the same manner as posting a picture.  Use the “select file” button at the bottom of your reply screen .  It should open the file directory on your computer after which you can select your file.

If the file on your computer is larger than 2MB you could try compressing it first.  A site like smallpdf.com offers free compression;  there are many other sites that do this as well.

        Hopefully this helps.

So far making progress with this project.  While waiting on the powerhead parts I was able to get the lower unit apart, clean everything up and replace the water pump.   The gear oil was in surprisingly good condition with no evidence of emulsion.  I think I will eventually replace all the lower unit seals after I get it running and everything dialed in.  I have a couple questions about the carb relating to the packing around the needles and the welch plugs.

        • Do you recommend any sort of lubricant for the packing material?  My carb kit came with what appears to be cork packing washers.
        • The parts list shows the packing nut directly compressing the packing washers.  Would it be advantageous to add a small hard washer between the packing nut and the packing washers?
        • In addition to the aluminum welch plugs I’m familiar with, there appears to be molded lead welch plugs sealing some of the smaller carb passages.  Can I just pound a piece of small lead shot in their places when I put the carb back together, or is a more specific procedure required?

        Thanks!
