Anyone know how important the tiny pin that keeps ring gap in place on a 29 Johnson K-40 is? I finally found pistons for mine and one hogged out pin and eat it. pistons took me a year to find. If I put together without pin will ring turn and end get caught in port and break. Thanks

That would be bad, makes me nervous drilling and putting another pin in. not sure if locktight would be enough to hold it.

should work IF the rings have a notch for the pin.
            Just my opinion.

They have a notch, each one is pinned. I’d get another piston but it took me forever to find these, not many around. I’ll give it a try. Thanks
