I have a gear case from a Johnson LT 10 that’s in good condition, aside from the broken tab at the bottom. It’s a pretty clean break. I wonder if I can epoxy that piece and reuse the head?

Also wondering if anyone has a source for the brass “eccentric?”

That bottom “tab” puts pressure on the gasket to seal the grease in and the water out. I don’t think epoxy would hold up. I would rather see it welded. I would check with Art DeKalb about the eccentric, he makes a lot of parts for those old Johnsons.

Thanks for your input, Gary. Here’s another gear case that has two of the tabs welded. Whoever did it did a good job except that it looks like it would be hard to get a good seal where the weld meets the original rim of the case. I think I’ll look for another case that’s intact.
