adjusted the points, and temporarily put the flywheel on.
The initial test looks promising. Nice blue spark.
Hard to see in the video, so hopefully the next video will
be more exciting….. “of it running”!Prepare to be boarded!

March 4, 2020 at 8:42 am #196611Thanks Joe. I’ve learned a lot about outboards on these forums,
from people who were willing and took the time to share, so
while at best, I’ll only be a middle of the road mechanic,
I try to share what I’ve learned from others, and from my mistakes!Prepare to be boarded!
March 5, 2020 at 12:26 am #196715Buccaneer your last post was bang on the money.I have repaired many different items over the years and have made lots of mistakes I have learned a lot by trial and error and from other people.I try to help anyone I can if someone says I am just being a know it all I say if I can help some one too not make the same mistakes I did and not ruin something because of a lack of knowledge then I have returned a favour when I was helped.
My dad always said keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut I was always good at the first two but failed many times on the last,I like to think i am getting better as I age.March 5, 2020 at 9:09 am #196728I’ve had a lot of great mentors over the years, all with various techniques
and styles. My grandfather taught me “fix it yourself”, and sometimes
you just “need a bigger hammer”. My father taught me persistence……
he was persistence I helped him work on his 1966 International
propane delivery truck almost every weekend, because something was
always breaking! My uncle taught me lots of tricks in small engine repair,
and a few old time sayings……. “Slipperier than snot on a grease rag”
and “shinier than a schoolmarm’s knee” , and best yet, his interest
in “old outboards”.Prepare to be boarded!
