I think this carb had a needle valve bushing that I buggered up and drew out in pieces. I have a MD 20 parts motor with a very similar carb. I’m not sure I can get that bushing out without destroying it too. Seems to be threaded in. Anyone know the part number?

Sorry – nothing I have goes back farther than the "H" and "T" models. That said, most of the changes between 39 & 40 were in styling. Most threaded carburetor parts had slots for a special screw driver to remove.

        . . . . . 😉

Thanks for the reply, Gary. I’ll look to see if I can detect some slots in the donor carb I have. I wonder if one of my clever friends could make me one of those tools from your drawing?

Did you do that drawing or source it from somewhere?

              You’ve got skills!

Looking at the MD 20 carb, I’m not sure there was a busing in there. I wonder if there were some aluminum washers in with the packing or something? I pulled out some sort of shrapnel, along with a wad of…. string? I’m going to try it with some more newer packing and see what happens.
