The original tiller grip would have been leather like all the A and A25 models had.The cavitation plate and support are of the A25 style rather than the usual A type. The waterpump is the 1925 A25 version.According to an article by Bob Zipps in January 1989 Antique Outboarder, the Johnson A models 1921-1926 included A,A25,AB25,ABC25,AC25,AS,B,BN,BNS,C,D,DN,E,and F.

iBoats list aside, would think that the DN, with it’s early cylinders, would be the canoe version of the BN. The AB came later, and had the later cylinders with the larger bypass ports.

I have a AC-25 myself with the standard transom bracket and a reproduction canoe bracket.
Unfortunately regardless of the model in most cases if used in salt water
Regularly the cylinders were not long for the world.
Nice find, does the ser# on the rope plate match the crankcase number?

Congrats on such a nice find!

          Respectfully,

Thanks for the input, guys. Stanley, this pump and cavitation plate looks just like a Model A I’m working on. Got a photo of the differences you’re describing?

Where’d you find a reproduction canoe bracket?
