      Champion doesn’t make a "J" type spark plug anymore. The latest number is 509. You have to file back the side electrode to make it a "J" type.       . . 🙂

        Garry, Do we file the electrode ground strap to reduce carbon fouling?
        If so, I wish I knew that trick back in the 70’s with my little 80 cc
        Yamaha motorcycle. I was often coasting to the side of the road
        and then cleaning the plug to get it going again!

          Filing the side electrode back to the center of the center electrode produces a more open spark. On some troublesome outboards it matters which way the electrode points.           . . 🙂
