Crosbyman…thanks for the response. I guess I’ll have to cross that fuel tank bridge when I get further along. I was hoping there was some type of aftermarket tank.
June 22, 2023 at 11:46 pm #277278since the CD has no bypass covers you must get a pulse from the crankcase to run a fuel pump by modifying the air nipple feeding air to the tank.
it involves removing a small rubber check valve, blocking a air channel, finding.. and installing a single line (modern) side connector… and a fuel pump of course…….. actually not all that difficult to do…great project
I learneda lot from this book which covers maintenance , fuel pump conversion carb upkeep etc… quite detailled asa learning book … and the 5.5hp is covered
the alternative is to locate a good… spare dual hose tank . they are out there but….pricy .
see video pics are a 7.5hp

June 23, 2023 at 10:42 am #277288To my knowledge, the difference between a CD-10 and a CD-11 is that the earlier CD-10 is not setup for remote control. The later CD-11 has a keyway in the shifter to accommodate the remote shifter cable. The earlier CD-10 does not have a keyway in the shifter.
Another difference is that the CD-11 has small gussets in the carry handle that were designed to attach a carry handle extension. The carry handle extension has a keyway to accommodate a steering cable. The CD-10 does not have the gussets.
In 1954, Evinrude made the same changes on the Fleetwin model.
June 23, 2023 at 11:28 am #277291there was if I remember correctly an article in the AOMCI (members only) Outboarder magazine illustrating the use of a modified mercury oiler tank using a duel line hose asa replacement for the $$$$ evinrude/johnson tanks .

Dave, I attached an Owner’s Manual for you and a link to a Parts Manual cuz it was too big to post here.
https://we.tl/t-nAzWw31DrIEdit: had a problem including the PDF file for the Owner’s Manual so here’s a link to download both… https://we.tl/t-pwIQ9T8E4Z
Just the Owner’s Manual… https://we.tl/t-ZVcCs1Vhod
June 23, 2023 at 5:11 pm #277301Thanks for the information, Aquasonic! There are no gussets on the carry handle of my motor. Also, the shifter does not have a keyway, so my motor must be a Model CD-10.
I was unable to download the information that you attached to your message. I am working from an iPad, so I’m not sure if the iPad knows where to file the document. Do you know whether I need to create an account with WeTransfer to be able to download documents?
With the information you provided about the Model CD-10 not having the carry handle gussets and shifter keyway, I can now postulate how the manufacturer ended up double-stamping the ID tag. The manufacturer likely originally stamped the motor CD-11. They then realized their mistake and corrected the incorrect stamping with CD-10. Looking at the tag now… it looks like the dashed “strikeouts” were a part of the final stamp of CD-10.
June 23, 2023 at 5:31 pm #277302You don’t need an account to download, and I’m not familiar with the problems associated with using an iPad to download a pdf file. Maybe you have to be sure you have an app on the iPad that reads pdf files? Just guessing here….

June 27, 2023 at 12:48 pm #277489No aftermarket tanks available, but I’m sure you can find a used pressure tank somewhere. Others will recommend converting this engine to single line with a fuel pump, I don’t recommend this option. Where are you located Dave?? Perhaps there are members in your area willing to give guidance. Attending one of our swap meets is a good way to find an affordable pressure tank as well. Download that “red book” that crosbyman posted, this will be a great guide as well. Needless to say, we are always here to help, feel free to post pictures and ask more questions. Don
July 2, 2023 at 12:50 pm #277612Fleetwin (Don)…I’m located in Stilwell, KS (a Kansas City suburb). I’ve emailed the Mid-America Prop Spinners (AOMCI) to talk about membership and how I might get connected to someone who might provide some guidance in taking some reasonable steps in the restoration of my motor, instead of just completely tearing it apart. I hope to hear from them soon. Also, I agree with you that I would rather find an affordable pressure tank. I like the idea of my outboard being as close to original as possible.
