I recently purchased a SR-45 that came with a big Johnson Model T barrel carb(used on a Johnson TR-40??)….this looks like someone offered a transition casting to mount this to the SR-45. Maybe for running Alcohol? This doesn’t look like the right match…?? any comments??

I have seen one of those once before. Perhaps it could have been pictures of yours? Anyway, I lack the racing engine knowledge to address how that carb could add to the SR’s performance, but one of the best ways to enhance the engine’s performance is to open the passages on the rotary valve. Almost every old racing book addresses how to do that, but it basically boils down to opening the passage without changing the timing of the opening.
