      Hi all

The other day I went and got myself a Johnson, with the model as TSL-20.
There is not much info about them around so I was wandering if anyone could shed some light on it.
It is painted army green and I came across another post on iboats forum with someone else having the exact same with army green.
Were they used in the armed forces?
I have the date of manufacture as 1946 but I have seen it listed at 1945 and 1944…

      Any help appreciated.

      Thanks
      BP

The TSL-20 came out after the TSL-15. The TS-15 was made 1941-’45, with the TS-20 coming out in 1946 according to our Johnson guide book. There is a military manual for the TSL-15 which has about everything you could want to know in it. It has 63 pages in it divided into 3 parts: Operation, Maintenance, and Parts. It is illustrated, and the manual number on the dark green cover is TM5-8002. The -15 is nearly identical with the -20 except for the crankshaft and magneto. The letter ‘L’ in the model number means long shaft.

          Hi all

          Pics of the Johnson.

Hotrod, thanks or that info. You wouldn’t by any chance have a pdf of that manual?

As I intend to restore it both cosmetically and mechanically, does anyone know the correct decal design for this motor or have an advert for it I could use?

          Cheers
