Working on a couple of JW’s, making two out of three.
    One engine had a 3 blade prop # 203120 (6 1/2″ x 5 3/4″)
Marine engine shows the number has been replaced by # 203919 and illustrates a two bladed unit.

Is the 3 bladed prop designed for slower speed, more push?

That would appear to be the case by conventional wisdom. But they only used the 3-blade for a couple of years then replaced it with 203919 2-blade 6 1/8 x 6 1/4 because it just works better.

They found the early prop allowed it to run too fast os an easy to push boat or canoe. After replacing some blown up motors they decided most people didn’t have a tachometer changed to the two bladed higher pitch prop for later models.

I run the 3 blade lower pitch prop on mine. I use it for a back up motor on my Big Jon. The lower pitch will allow it to rev up a bit more, which is good when using the motor with a heavy load.

There is a larger pitch 3 blade prop available that was introduced on the 1969 4hp models….
