Harry, My tank appears to be a polished tank…other than a PO had dribbled some sort of black paint all over the top of the motor and tank ,the tank was in great shape…till I dropped it 🙁   I’m still trying to figure out how to pop the crushed corner without cutting the tank open…possible find some aluminum nuts and have them welded to the tank to use a slide hammer??? Right now I’m just going to remount the tank and get it running then deal with the tank maybe over the winter. I’m excited about how it ran right off the bat. What kind of oil ratio should I use on this motor…I’m thinking at least 8:1.

To remove the KA-37 flywheel, the  owners manual says to unscrew the nut tight against the cover plate and then strike the nut a sharp blow with a hammer while having someone lift up on the rim of the flywheel at the same time to absorb the shock.  Repeated attempts may be necessary and this procedure will loosen the most stubborn flywheel.  This is how it’s done on most motors of that era without threaded holes in the flywheel for a puller.

Are the starting and oiling decals still on the tank?  Just wondering because these motors do require an 8:1 fuel mix and not 16:1.

If I could, I would post the owners manual here but I’m having issues posting files here and on others forums to. My File Explorer keeps crashing but I’m working on it.

Thanks Mumbles…I did get the flywheel off. Can you save the file as a PDF and email it to me? Then I could print out a hard copy…if so let me know and I can shoot you my email addy. The decals are mostly gone on my tank so I’m going on what you and everyone else is saying….8:1…I have a bunch of Evinrude/Johnson XD30 oil i’m using up. Although it doesn’t actually say TCW3 on it , it says used for engines specifying TCW3….it’s gotta be good oil…you think? Otherwise I use Walmart house brand TCW3 oil.
