          Thanks for the info. It does make sense. Now to see if the passage way to allow that to happen can be reopened if indeed possible. From the top, the hole into the lower unit appears as a blind hole.

            The KF9 gearcase could be used in the conventional way, or flipped for use as a tractor (with a different prop). Basically, rotating the gearcase allowed you to use either of the “Y” pipes to supply water to the powerhead. Only one branch of the pipe would be used at a time. This is all according to Orloff.

            He also mentions Charlie Strang’s input on the tractor style. Apparently the KF9 was rather “unruly” with the prop set-up in tractor fashion…
