The ’21 Koban is back on the ‘git er dun’ list but something doesn’t seem quite right with the flywheel.

Sometime in it’s 95 years, it seems someone has brazed a nut onto the brass flywheel to hold the starter knob shaft. The existing shaft screws into the nut but inside the flywheel I can see where a stud or bolt has been staked with a center punch to hold it in place.

Would this be the end of the original bolt or screw and would anyone have a picture of an original flywheel?

      Thanks in advance!

Yup, that helps a lot Chris!

So there is a fastener of some kind on the flywheel. The bolt for the knob must screw into it then. Guess I’ll find out for sure when I melt the nut off of mine! Thanks!

Are those custom heads on your motor?

Stock heads, the 1914-15 Kobans did not have lettering on the cylinder heads. First year for lettering on heads would have been 1916.
