      I have a 72T recently bought a 62T.

Althougth there are subtle differences it appears that some components are interchangeable.

62T I bought has a 72T lower unit with intergral cavitation plate. I haven’t opened it up yet but would think the internals are common to both. I do know the drive shaft differ in the 62T has a slotted connection at the powerhead and the 72T has a square drive.

Magneto’s:   Eisemann routed the plug wires  differently. 72T used the 90deg bakelite fitting, and the kill switch is on the tiller handle. Point housing on my 62T does not look original and the condensor was replaced with a capacitor. Would like to see a correct 62T mag plate if someone has one. 62T Mag actually produces a week spark but Eisemann coil history would suggest a coil replacement.

I picked up rebuilt 72T magento that should fit on the 62T.  Note: rebuilder put a kill switch on the mag plate that was a bit confusing at first look. I’m going to try and use the 72T rebuilt Mag on the 62T.  62T mag plate will need some work!

I also found a 62T lower unit that I’ll swap out the 72T intergral cavitation plate with. As luck would have it I need a better lower unit on my 72T as the one I have has been repaired.

      Anybody still with me…..ramble on!

The 72 T has a kill button on the tiller and the mag. lever. They both function. Why? With this magneto the motor will run forward and backward. I believe it is called the “Reversing Magneto”. Possibly the kill button on the mag. lever is for changing the rotation of the motor when its running, like a Speedster? Just Speculating. Tubs

The person you got the 62t lower and the magplate from didn’t happen to have a 72t muffler sitting around did they? Nice comparison work.

Tubs, I’m sure you are correct. Thanks.

I’ll have to check on the 72T muffler.
