Steve Woods has a Stevens Magacharger here in Florida. He always takes it to Tomahawk when they have there National meet. . . 😉

After a few years of searching for a Stevens Charger and coming up empty, I ended up building one.

Do you sell a schematic for your charger?

Mumbles, What kind of blocks (to fit the contour of the flywheel, etc.)
did you make for your charger?

Damm…look at the size of those charge coils. Thats whats important..the rest is in the pic!

Rectifier is square at bottom. Momentary switch on far right. Red lite shows power to the system. Green lite shows DC to the coils. Toggle is for polarity. Degauzing cap to protect switch from arcing. And a DC meter with 10 amp max. I am interested in the reason for the cap as one wouldn’t switch when charging..

All a guess…just trying to bait Mumbles..

The semi-tryangular blocks that come with the Stevens MagnaCharger have three radii corresponding the the three most popular flywheel magnetos. There are several on line plans for magnet rechargers. . . 🙂

Garry, thanks for the information. I’ll file it for the future.
I made a charger a dozen years or so ago, when I was
working on Hit and Miss engines to recharge some
Wico EK magnetos. They only required flat stock
to set up for charging. If I ever find the need to
recharge an outboard flywheel, I’ll have to come up with
some curved stock, with the correct radii, as you stated.
I have a lathe and a hacksaw to work with! Just wondering
what Mumbles came up with, and how he made them.
                        Thanks.
