Thank you to all who helped me distinguishing the differences between a regular KG-7 & the “Q” & “H” models. As you all know (…& I just learned), they only have a fwd gear, & off. What Merc of that era would be a good match up for a 12ft. Penn Yan Swift that has fwd., neutral, & reverse, and that can also be set up for remote shift & steer??

The Mercury KH-7 also known as “The Cruiser” is pretty much identical in appearance to the KG-7 but adds Shift. I believe it came out in 1952.

remember the mark 25 adds a 6 gallon tank user friendly.

Good point, be a real fire hazard carting extra fuel to hang over the transom & fill from the top lol.

I think I will be going to look at the boat either next weekend or the following weekend. He has a Mark-25E he is willing to sell with the boat so let me get back to you on that.

                      Hello Dave.
The guy with the the Swift I’m thinking about purchasing messaged me back about the Merc Mark-25E that I could also get. He said he was using an Evinrude shifter. I’m not too familiar with Mercs, I think it’s a 1955. Do they have both remote shift & throttle capabilities?
How much would you be asking for your box & cables?
