Ok I will do as you suggest. Just out of personal curiosity why mix the fuel with oil? If I see t oil going to the fuel pump should it not be ok? Is it because the fuel reflux could cause the pump to fail?

The reason I suggested mixing some oil in the gas, is for an extra measure of protection. With the possibility of fuel migrating back into the oil tank, [due to a bad oil check valve] the oil that’s in the tank now may be leaned out, or watered down so to speak. Of course it’s your call. I think Bill had also suggested this, and I agree. After repairs are completed, you can go back with trusting the oil injection to do it’s job.

Gotcha that makes perfect sense. Who knows how much fuel is getting through that check valve. Enough to destroy the sensor. I suppose I can use the old oil in my pre-mix for the aluminum boat and motor if I mix it a bit heavier than 50/1. Well thanks a lot for all the help you two. It’s been an expensive season for this boat. I had to install a new steering cable, then a new starter and now whatever this oil tank and sensor will be. But on the bright side I’ve learned some and the boat will in much better shape.
