      Hello, this engine has the phase maker ignition, and trying to figure out which coil is the low speed one – hoping someone here can advise, thanks

          Hello,
          The service manual states that the low speed coil has red and yellow wire leads, and the high speed coil has blue and yellow leads. Additionally, a 1974 model would still be a Merc 40 (4 horsepower), 1975 was the first year model for the Merc 45 (4.5 horsepower).
