OMC “Universal” coils.

Before you start, mark which side of magneto plate each coil lamination stack goes where. May or may not make a difference, but, why take chances.

Coils that look bad can be good and coils that look good can be bad. If the coils test good, it may be possible to repair insulation. New or good used OMC universal magneto coils are low cost options.

If you have any good ones laying around it
wont cost you anything. Also sometimes you
wont get a spark right away. If that is the case
spin the motor with a drill, with the spark plugs
out, grounded to the motor, and the spark will
soon appear. You can also accomplish the
same thing by just pulling it over but it takes a
bit longer.
