I am trying to replace the impeller on subject engine. There is a brass disc in front of the impeller, held in by a “C” ring. I have removed the “c” ring but am unable to remove the brass disc. The impeller is behind the disc. Anyone have experience removing the disc ? Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

The disc I cannot remove would cover the impeller as shown in fig 3 It is held i place by a C RING.February 28, 2020 at 4:59 pm #196120https://aomci.org/forums/topic/wizard-wd-3s-impeller-question/
Due to corrosion you may have to apply heat with a torch
To LU area to get case to expand, in order to get impellor
Cover off.I used mechanical force and bent mine? (Not Recommended)

push it out. If the pin is bent in an S shape it may be best to cut it with
a Dremel tool cut off disc or similar method. If the pin come out without
a problem, use 2 rods to pry up on impeller drive hub…that often is enough to do job. Extreme method is to SLAM the water pump housing
down on a wood surface so the inertia of the heavy brass disc pops it
loose. Both methods work, If may help to clean the gap between the
brass disc and the water pump housing as that may ease removal of
disc by either method.

The Mercury 1940 K3 should use an oscillator (Hockey Puck) style impellor not a rotax style.
Does your intake have the 16 square holes like Sea King K1?I would dissemble intake & prop shaft from lower unit and try a little heat on outside of aluminum
Housing using propane torch and try to press out using drive shaft Gently! i.e. light taps.Reproduction impellor are available from Ferguson- poole
http://fergusonpoolemarine.com/
The Oscillator style pumps have a hole in cover
And the rotax vane style pumps have a slot in
Cover. (See Picture)! -
