Just acquired a beautiful old 1950 ke4. It cranked and ran after sitting for 50 years but wasn’t spitting any water so I killed it. I have removed the prop and am a brass cover with 2 holes. Please advise how to remove this cover. From the drawings I have found the water pump is right behind the cover but I havent had any luck at all getting it to budge. thanks in advance!!!

IT IS A LEFT HAND THREAD. make a tool to fit the 2 tool holes then make spacers even wood works to fill the prop shaft then put a nut and washer on to hold the tool on. once it starts to move loosen the nut some and keep going repeat heat helps

dave i tried calling, im starting to wrap my head around what you are saying, i think i could make a tool fairly easy but welder is at work and we are shut down for who knows how long. i may be able to use some small long bolts nuts and a 2×4 with hole saw in the middle

Part #34 has 2 3/16” holes and left hand thread, counter-clockwise. Good luck

thanks yes that tool is close to what i pictured in my head. After the cover is off is it necessary to remove the entire impeller housing or can the impeller be replaced without going further than just removing the cover?

I could be wrong but I think it was Member Tubs who posted this picture of a tool he made. Just to give you some idea of what people do to help things along without spending $$$$$ on a factory tool that you will only use a few times……

I made a tool similar to the M-60-544 shown above for my KG7 some years ago. Worked like a charm. As noted above the cover is a Left Hand thread. If you are near me in Traverse City Michigan, You are welcome to come by and use it.
