      Is it possible to replace the pull rope without taking the whole thing apart?

        Yes , take the 3 bolts out and remove the cover plate and paws. then the cable. NOTE check for rough areas especially where it goes through the tank. use the newer type rope not the cable type which is hard to work with.. 1 914 310 7086

          Interesting comment Dave. I’ve been messing with the recoil on my KE3 and it has the wire cable. Haven’t measured it but I would bet it’s not much bigger than 1/8″. What size newer type rope would work?

            The cord that was used on the two cyl Mercury four horse 79 80 Gnat will fit and work well
