Mine looks to be 1/2″ all the way through.
I’ve been looking at some you tube videos that
show the exhaust housing when they are running
and the ones I have found don’t put out the water
through the holes that my mark 7 does. I checked
the cylinder temperature when it was running and
it was in the mid to high 90’s and the water temp.
in my tank was 85. I remember checking the
exhaust housing too and it was way higher but
I don’t recall what it was. I had another lighting
6 years ago. Replaced the coils, condensers, all
the seals, and it needed a prop. I ran the motor a
lot the next summer and then passed it on. I cant
remember how much water came out of the holes
on that one. The coils and condensers in this one
look resent. They have been replaced anyway.
Although the holes were open there was a
considerable amount of carbon build up in the
exhaust housing. Maybe all that carbon was
keeping the water from exiting the holes. If this
motor has ever been apart its been a long time
ago. I need to get gaskets and replace all the
seals. I think I’ll set it aside and save it for
something to keep me busy this winter. Thank
you to all that responded. Its very much
appreciated.

Here is the story on the Mark-7. A museum
had it stored in an unheated storage building.
It was just laying on the floor under a plastic
tarp. The magneto lever was frozen solid.
I gave them the $50.00 they were asking.
The motor had a 1959 Ohio registration tag.
Its a 1953 and I suspect it last ran in 59.
The plugs were J-7-J’s and they had never
been fired. Its been a long time since you
could buy any of them. Most spark plug
charts don’t list them anymore. Gas tank
and carb were clean. No water in the gear
case. Impeller had taken a set but it was
still tight in the cartridge. So I put some
OMC style coils in it, along with some
fresh105, washed off the silver painted parts,
and waxed the green parts. Stuck it in my
trash can, put in some gas, and it started
right up.
I did put the red paint in the mag lever but
the rest of it (I believe) is original. There
are some scratches in the tank paint though.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened at
the museum. I ran it a couple times a day,
most every day, for about a month two
summers ago. It will do 20 mph on a 12′
Sears and sounds like it’s doing 100. I got
some ear plugs on about the 3’rd day. Showing
my age I guess. Great motor. Its a surprise the
first time you slide the mag lever over to fast.

Hey, is that an app for your cell phone or an actual, hand held GPS? I haven’t been able to use my phone in that way yet, not that I have tried very hard….
Long live American manufacturing!

I would describe it as more of scream than a growl.
I like all the Technology in a cell phone
except the phone part so I don’t have one.
I use one of these. It takes OK pictures
inside and great pictures outside. No
special battery. Just 2 AAA’s. Smaller
than a pack of cigarettes. Its an early
Garmin nuvi 205 GPS. About the same
size as the camera.
