Sometimes the spark plug leads are soldered and sometimes not.
I can not say which is factory and which is not. It seems to have
worked either way, The single magneto can be assembled with
coil in port side or starboard location and many have a portion broken
out of the wrong location…I assume to prevent improper assembly
that would only be noticed when attempting to start motor,
Something keep in mind is that Bendix coils on singles and possibly early twins were smaller in diameter than coils used in later production.
Apparently Bendix added more turns to increase voltage output
The fat coils can be installed with a little effort in the earlier
magneto plates. Speaking of which the military surplus coils may
also be installed with a little McGivering.
