I got my my new to me Mark 25 engine cover today. It looks like I will need to get a new connector and fuel line connector also. Here are the pictures… it looks like the old connector on the cowl is broken.

My tank has been working for a few days… I think I need a different battery charger…I will pick up one tomorrow. What do I need to do to the inside of the tank when I pull it out? I have read that it needs to be coated with oil. I also think there are a few small holes in the tank, what can I use to fix them? And lastly, has anyone reinforced the bottom of the metal gas tanks to make sure the bottom doesnt flex down too far? I was thinking of installing some steel square tubing across the bottom for added support because the bottom flexes pretty far when its full of liquid.

As for the fuel connector, that’s a bummer! It might actually still do its job in spite of the portion of the end that has broken off, but if I were you I’d invest in a replacement for the peace of mind. They shouldn’t be too hard to come by, and you could always put up a wanted ad on our forum.

Can’t help you on the tank, unfortunately. Other than keeping a functioning OMC pressure tank, I just use a plastic tank for my single line motors. Those tank repairs are a royal pain if you ask me, but there are some guys here in the club that do some fantastic restorations. I hear the RedKote product is pretty good at sealing the insides of a tank with minor leak issues, but you gotta get the inside good and clean for it to adhere. Hopefully a few of the guys who are good at fixing tanks up will chime in.

I found a set of the new connectors on line I am going to grab! The cowl part and the fuel line connector.

Cool. Keep us posted on your progress. The Mark 20 is a fun motor, and all your effort will feel worth it when you eventually get it running.
