        yes it is a rubber tube and a special washer not a seal as you know it also check down in the hole for a welsh plug if it is damaged replace it for it wont pump water to the power head.

          Okay I found theese two still on the water pipe. Not sure what a welsh plug looks like.

              I like the mark 28. and many other mercs from 50’s to 64.
