Bought my first vintage outboard. Yay! What do I need to do in order to get this motor running? The motor turns over. I plan on checking the compression when I buy a tester. How do I get to the spark plug?

        Welcome to the hobby.
Spark Plug access by removing cowl which is retained by non removable
1/4 turn spring loaded Duzus fasteners. It is common for long stored outboard
to have no or weak spark. Sometimes cleaning/polishing points is all that is
needed. What it will take to restore an old outboard to good running condition
will depend upon prior use and care. Assume nothing check everything.
Do not be afraid of grease and grime the preservatives of old outboards.

The guy who I bought the motor from said it was his dads. They had it on a wood boat and backed the boat into a tree causing the boat to disintegrate. The motor has been in storage for 30 years
