Louis, just wondering….are you sort of implying that a Mark 6 and say, a CD12 Johnson are likely to be an equal challenge?

Can’t speak for what Mr. Kiekhaefer called "The Enemy" but I did give away a small pickup load
of KF5/Mark 5 and parts thereof just to avoid temptation/frustration. From all reports when they are running right they are sweet little toys. Don’t let my opinion of them deter you. If they are to your liking have at them. At the moment I am looking for one to steal the drive shaft for
a KF3 single that has been hanging fire for far too long. KF3 and KF5 below serial # 360080 share same part number drive shaft. Later KF5 drive shafts may have "O" ring groove in
splines and be a little longer with a different crankshaft. Subject is discussed in Service Manual
        gear case section.
Mark 5 drive shaft is an entirely different set up’.
