Is there anything I should do carefully when removing the lower unit?

disconnect the shift cable then the 2 nuts and it will come right down. going back up is a different story. call me when you get that far. 1 914 310 7086.

I’ve gotten the lower unit off the mark 5. How do I disconnect the bottom gear housing off the upper part? It seems there is a large spring preventing the two parts from separating.

Phillips up in the exhaust snout.

I took that screw off already.

turn the drive shaft backwards to loosen the spring but hold the prop shaft .
