SEEMS LIKE IT NEVER ENDS SOMETIMES. AFTER THE RESPONSES I GOT FROM EVERYONE, I THOUGHT I HAD A PRETTY GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE TINY HOLE WAS ALL ABOUT, SO I WENT AHEAD AND REMOVED THE LOWER END CAP AND PULLED THE BEARING. I AM ATTACHING PHOTOS OF WHAT I FOUND. CONTRARY TO WHAT I REPORTED EARLIER, THERE ARE IN FACT TWO SEALS IN THIS ENGINE. THE FIRST SEAL (THE ONE ON THE ENGINE SIDE) HAD THE TINY HOLE AS EXPECTED. I REMOVED IT AND FOUND THE OTHER SEAL (ON THE DRIVESHAFT SIDE) UNDERNEATH. TROUBLE IS, IT HAS THE TINY HOLE ALSO. THAT BEING THE CASE, I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT SOMEBODY HAS ALREADY BEEN HERE BEFORE AND INCORRECTLY REPLACED THE SEALS. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE SECOND SEAL SHOULD HAVE THE HOLE, AND I PLAN TO REASSEMBLE WITH A SEAL ON THE DRIVESHAFT SIDE HAVING NO HOLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANY DISAGREEMENT ON THIS.
BY WAY OF EXPLAINATION ABOUT MY INITIAL REPORT OF THIS ENGINE HAVING ONLY ONE SEAL, THIS IS ONLY MY SECOND GO-AROUND WITH THESE ENGINES. MY FIRST ENGINE, AN EARLIER VERSION NO DOUBT, HAD ONLY ONE SEAL, AND MY PARTS BOOK ONLY SHOWED ONE SEAL. I ASSUMED INCORRECTLY THAT THIS ONE ALSO. HAD ONE SEAL. MY APOLOGIES FOR THE CONFUSION. AT ANY RATE, THANKS TO ALL FOR THE ASSISTANCE, AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS, I WOULD SURE LIKE TO HEAR THEM.
