I have rebuilt, mags, (they spark) fuel pump, carbs, starter, fuel lines, etc. I have rebuilt about 10 44cc motors in last couple of years, and they all run! But this one will not fire. The carbs are sucking gas, but the plugs are dry and the piston tops seem dry also. Any ideas
      Thanks Rick in Foxburg PA.

          Rick,

My 1st question did you run the motor before you rebuilt all accessories?
          Make sure new gas
Check all easy stuff first which I’m sure you did.
You should have KA carbs when you rebuilt did you change out the rubber seat with metal?
          Check timing
What type of mag kiekhaefer kd-1,2,3,4? Or FM do you replace all points condenser double check point gap.
          Just a few thoughts.
Attached carb rebuild info what typ carb do you have? I run KA9at and on others ka2at

Thanks for the help, I have 2 sets of rebuilt carbs, and have tried both sets, and rebuilt one of them again, using the new carb kits that do not have the rubber gromet seat. I tried 2 different re-built mags, I think a KD-1 and a KD-2, I have rebuilt about 20 mags, and know what I am doing with them, I also pulled both mags off and spun them with a drill and they spark great. Also used a sparker unit, on one plug shows good spark. The motor ran a few days ago for only about 10 seconds, so I know it should run. But it will not! I timed them very carefully, Will check to be sure Flywheel is on the key, I just reinstalled it today, as I had it off to replace the charging unit coils. The key does not stick out very far, so just maybe you are on the right track. A friend of mind Tim Digennaro, suggested the reed valves, but I have no idea how to unstuck them, Thanks again, I will take a look to be sure the flywheel is on correctly, and rekey it. Since it does not hit a lick, maybe thats it. or the reeds?

I forgot to answer you first question, NO the motor was in no condition to run, one other thing is the compression seems high on 2 cylinders, When I first checked it, it was 150, 120, 120, 150,(#4) have not seen such high compression?

Yes could be stuck reeds, pop carbs and check em out. You crack me up " The Merc Legend" tell Tim I said hi. If you start messing with the reeds my taz well crack the case. If you’re re building 4D-1’s this tool comes in handy to align rotor to cap, only used on the 1’s
