      Hey guys,

I am in the process of putting a 1957 mark 75 back together and am a bit confused about the ignition point settings . My manual reads, "The contact points must be adjusted to 90* dwell period and a 60* alternate opening position". This has me a bit confused. I have dealt with dwell setting before on small block Chevy’s mostly, but 90* dwell doesn’t really make sense to me.

I guess my question is how do I set the points correctly? I know there is a special timing wheel, but I also have heard of guys using an old dwell meter (which I already have). The 60* setting seems to make more sense to me, but I am not sure? Also, does anyone know a good "starting point" to set the point gaps at?

I appreciate any help and insight.

Easiest way is to set each with a dwell at 60* and finished. use a dwell meter and spin the distributer with a drill leave the coil and condenser wires off.
