I have seen the same thing done on a Martin which is the Hayward Wi Museum
I believe the Martin was owned by Louis Spry
        World record holder of Muskie

I bought a 59 Evinrude with on of those on it. It was a motor that went on a lot of Canadian fishing trips and the owner put it on for the weeds.

Turn it around the other way and you can dig for clams with it without getting your feet wet!
