Hi I purchased a 1 cylinder outboard from the junkyard today for $20. I was reluctant because the stickers are all barely visible but you can see it says MONO on it and even sort of read the operations instructions. It had really good compression so I said why not?! So I took it home, checked the gear lube, put fresh gas in it and it started right up! I revved it a little and it was quite responsive so overall I think I did pretty good. What I’d like to know is if anyone can give me any information about this motor and how to find serial number info or whatever you can. I know it’s a mono made by Tecumseh and is an early 60. That’s all I got. Thanks in advance!

It looks like the company was based out of Springfield MO in the early 60’s and they used four horse Tecumseh/Power Products motors for the powerhead. The rest reminds me of an Eska.

A good little engine for cold weather fishers and hunters as being air cooled they are not bothered by ice and snow. Easy to work on and the swoop on the leg makes them go real fast (LOL). enjoy….Brian

Here is one that is almost identical but barely different I think, maybe it’s just nicer lol. Mines not as nice but I believe I could get it close to this, maybe haha but I’m looking for a nice little fishing boat right now so I’ll probably just run it for a while, while I tinker and fix it up.
