Going to build a small Evinrude 1953 Superfastwin 15hp, soon & wondered what others thoughts on using the used needle bearings. Assuming they are within spec & no pits is it worth the time to hunt down new needles or use the old ones. Not for racing, just a fishing mtr.

Jeff, Are they discolored? Like purple or straw colored at the ends? I think, from my blacksmithing days, that means they’ve been hotter than they should be and may not be as hard (or harder) as they should be. Mine were discolored but I used them anyhoo. Hard to find new ones. And they are expensive! Don’t loose any! And count them. I think I only put 29 in when I was supposed to put 30. Or 28 vs 29.
I found one on the floor of my shop while sweeping the other day.
          Ha!
They rust too, so store them in earl till you use them.
