      Hi Guys
I’m working on a Neptune 500 Mighty Mite. This has a Tillotson HS series carb and these kits are very cheap to buy. Trouble is, although kits always contain more parts than might apply in one application, this one has a very tempting bronze filter screen that is a perfect fit for one side but the carb currently has only the diaphragm and the gasket in place and no screen.
Does anyone know if this screen actually belongs in this motor, and if so which side of the diaphragm does it go on ( the screen has all the right cutouts for the diaphragm and the little flapper valves/ that’s what makes me wonder)
      Thanks in advance
      Dave
PS How do you get a neat pseudonym like some of the guys have ( say Scuttles, etc)? Or did you have to do it at the time you first registered. I’ve looked but I didn’t see any directions etc)

Dave- I am not sure about outboard motor having the screen but power equipment does. Maybe this will help.

            Final Update

The large screen in the carb kit is not for this application ( even though it’s a perfect fit). Beneath the diaphragm on the fuel pump side there is a tiny mesh filter screen at the opening of the passage that delivers the fuel to the intake side. There is actually one of these tiny filter discs included in the kit.
This is not too practical an idea since to clean it requires removal of the diaphragm.
Better idea : After redoing the carb just use an in-line fuel filter, since these models have rubber gas lines anyway
