Thank you Very much! That helps out a LOT! I had a gentlemen tell me a little bit what you said, about the AA being a deluxe model, I’m still looking for an exact year, but they confirmed too, its a 55-56. This is what the front of mine looks like same carb model.
According to some Tillotson data, the little Neptune’s used that same carb
for many years, starting in 1947.Prepare to be boarded!
September 4, 2021 at 9:45 am #246112In the picture, the Yellow arrow, is that a plate that goes over the carb? Is it opened at the bottom, or just has that open opening for that screw? In the Red arrows are the pieces I am missing, along with that carb plate. so those might be really fun trying to track down! Besides those and the 2nd cowl piece, I believe those are the only parts that are actually missing! That I am aware of. The lady I got it from found it in a junk yard!
Not sure if other years used the same face plate, but the carb “bell”
should be easier to find.Prepare to be boarded!

September 4, 2021 at 4:18 pm #246133Hey Buccaneer, what year did they start calling them the “Mighty Mite” ? That is so weird the model designation was used through so many years! 1948-1956 List model AA1, Im wondering if mine might be a 1948, because my fuel tank isn’t squared like yours, mine is a little more pointed at the back and my 1941 is exactly the same. I dunno… it’s just a guess.

I don’t know the answer to that question.

September 5, 2021 at 2:34 am #246142I’ll message him, see what I find out. Thank you. If I may ask you a favor, could you measure From the bottom of the gear box, to the tip (very bottom) of the skeg, on your motor? You can’t see it in the pictures I sent, but my skeg is broke off, right under the gearbox. I know a good machinist, I may be able to get him to make me one. Thank you
September 5, 2021 at 9:14 am #246148Not sure I’m much help in your request on the skeg length, as
the skeg on mine was a little “short” as well.
I may have made a skeg and alumi-brazed
it on. Makes them look better asthetically, but
not a proper repair most likely.
I’ll take a look at it anyway today, as I can’t find
a photo of the skeg after I finished the motor.Maybe you can “guesstimate” from this photo I had in my files…..?

September 5, 2021 at 9:49 am #246159HAHA, well that sucks! Guess those weren’t made very durable! That second photo is really cool! I’m betting it might be about the same size as the skeg on my 41″
September 5, 2021 at 1:42 pm #246179I looked at my little Neptune this morning. I did braze a new skeg on, but guessing
I just “winged it”. As long as the skeg extends down past the prop, your off to
a good start. Most of the outboards on my rack have skegs that extend about 1″,
some up to 2″ lower than the prop.Prepare to be boarded!
