February 28, 2019 at 12:17 pm #169886I can recommend 3 options,
Replace with known good OEM coil, Been there done that..
Replace with OMC coils, this swap has been covered and can be found in a previous Outboarder, I recall Jim Moffatt did the article and I supplied some photos.. Been there done that, got pics to prove it
Replace with a Speedifour coil.. They are close… I just did one I think it was the Speedifour coils…
I have the last conversion on my bench, makes good spark.
I can offer to convert for you, the issue being, I will shortly have no power head and flywheel to check for spark, as I have sold my Mastertwins. They are still here but spoken for.
Richard, I think you’re thinking of a different style Eisemann magneto.
Mine is like the one in the photo, from this thread….

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

February 28, 2019 at 12:50 pm #169894Mumbles, What would it take to convert said Neptune to “pointless” ignition using the B&S coil you refer to? Possible?
If the coil has an internal module, try it after removing or disconnecting the points. The coil only has one terminal besides the two spark plug ones, and it is for hooking up a kill switch.

February 28, 2019 at 2:36 pm #169901People have adapted the John Deere Pony Coil to those
laminates to get spark back in those magnetos.
Tubs, the pony coil may be my next option, but seeing how I picked up this
coil for a lot less, thought I’d try it first.
Here’s my conversion. Still not sure if my coil is “out of specs”, or if
I installed the coil “non optimally”!
The coil is a nice snug fit on the laminates, but I’m not sure if the orientation
matters?Prepare to be boarded!
February 28, 2019 at 6:34 pm #169926Bucc, so what coil is that? looks like the Briggs twin cylinder ( the older points ignition system) .
And yes the JD Pony coil will work on the Eisserman 72 mag . Or a more costly option is buy a new reproduction Maytag twin coil ( $150)Joe

Joe, as I first posted, indeed it’s a Briggs Coil……
“February 27, 2019 at 2:11 pm #169792Edit Reply
I attempted to install a Briggs and Stratton 392329 (points / condenser style) coil
on my Neptune OB64A, twin opposed, 6hp, and have very weak spark.”I’m going to obtain another coil the same, and check it on the Stevens for comparison.
Then I’ll know if I have a bad coil, or faulty retrofit.Prepare to be boarded!
