I had my winter schedule all set and then this thing showed up.It didn’t look very promising but still has value as there is a strong demand for parts. I can get most of my money back if I cant get it running. These things almost always have a bad coil and often are so worn out they will no longer run. I have a Mate that is a wall hanger that after I modified a coil for it, it wont run. I set it aside with the intent of NOT starting on it till the other projects were done.
“I’ll Just” spin the flywheel. Compression feels good.
“I’ll Just” give it a quick look to see what needs fixing should I need to start looking for something.

December 18, 2024 at 3:15 pm #292723Tubs, I have had good results filling in small dents with JB Weld then putting a skim coat of body filler.

It’s a 1/2 hp Elto Cub. Going by the serial number it was sold in 1939. Tubs

Bob DJB Weld is a way better idea than anything I was thinking. Thanks Bob, Tubs

December 19, 2024 at 10:47 am #292730and JB can fix up minor skeg breaks 🙂 cheaper than a 400$ snow job… held up real good all summer … not good for rocks of course 🙂
buffed it and painted it and looks a lot better and for 15$ I can always fix it again 🙂
Joining AOMCI has priviledges 🙂

I might be tempted to take that greasy kicker to the car wash!

December 19, 2024 at 11:47 pm #292744The dents, the rope, the silicone RTV, faded decals and paint…..that stuff is “Patina”……gives the motor “Character”! ….a lot of that is being left on some old cars in that hobby now – just a quick wash and spray clear paint over the whole mess! Some car clubs have awards for patina on unrestored “survivor” cars. Maybe AOMCI needs to have a class like that??!! (LOL!).
