We run twin ’56 Johnson Javelins on one of our Cedarstrip runabouts.

Recently I’ve noticed emulsified gear oil draining out of the water intake plate above the cavitation plate, the day after a run.

My guess is that a shift rod o-ring may have failed?

      Comments always appreciated.

      Bill.

Seems like more of a upper driveshaft seal issue if the goop is leaking from the water inlets…

check gear oil  for water intrusion.  check u-tube  on testing GC pressure to confirn seals are all good . If not a reseal job is needed

the rest of the emulsion may be just junk being washed down  with   unburnt fuel oil residues… nothing to worry about usually.

Thanks Gents, sounds like an over-winter project.

Don’t want to risk loosing any cruising time in Summer.

There is indeed some mayo in the GC.

just replace  and   just change the oil a few times till lay-away.  try NEW seals on the  2 oil  bolts they may be bad.

the presure test will tell you which seal is gone.. usually prop seal full of monoline

change them all anyway if the bolt seals (nylons) did not fix it
