Brrrrrrrrr, glad the sun was out, but it still looked a little chilly.
I presume you’ll be converting one of those boats into
an “ice breaker” soon.
That used to be fun when I was a kid, with my dad’s heavy old
wood boat, pretending I was an explorer, breaking ice late fall,
out on the lake. Sadly, the little 3 hp Buccaneer was ill suited for
the task!
I feel a bit jealous as I was hoping to get out to on NYD to test a ‘new to me’ 9.9 but the monsoon rains and wind storms we’ve been having changed my plans. Global warming is affecting us all differently!
Without intending to hijack your thread, here’s a vid of when I did manage to get out on the lake on NYD five years ago. It can be done!
I was really hoping to make a NYD boat ride an annual tradition, something like the Polar Bear swims we have around here. Weather providing, I’ll try a bit harder next year!
Years ago I used to have my picture taken on NYD eating my lunch out on the sundeck wearing a T shirt. Copies were then mailed to relatives on the frozen prairie to try and rile them up a bit. Yup, I was a bad hombre back then!
We got out for one last ride yesterday. The weather is turning back to seasonal. We had to break some ice to get out to the lake. The boats are now in bed until spring.
