The B6S is about the same heat range as the J6C plugs while the B8S plug is a bit colder and is used in J4C applications. I don’t think NGK ever manufactured a hotter B4S plug so the B6S has to be used.

My local auto supply opens a 9:00 AM today so I’m going to see how many of these plugs they have left on their shelves. They usually have them in the ten packs so maybe I should load up if they still have them.

According to the Champion Cross reference that I have, the B6S is the equivalent of the J8C and the B7S is the equivalent of the J6C
. The numbers for heat range for NGK and Champion go in opposite directions.

Hmmm…….this site shows the B6S as a replacement for the Champion J6, J7, and J8 series of plugs. Best thing to do is install a new set, run the motor for a while and then read them. May have to make an adjustment depending on how the motor is being used. Usually a hotter plug for extended trolling or a colder plug for hard service such as water skiing.

My guardian angel must be watching me today as my local auto supply (Lordco) can get all the B6S, B8S, and BM6A bantam plugs I want out of their Vancouver warehouse. I ordered several boxes of ten packs so that should keep me going for a while. ☺
