I like the Connecticut River just above Hartford. We have a meet there in a June. There are islands on the river and it is very natural which is surprising so close to Hartford.

Another Maine river run to consider: The Penobscot River. A couple of years ago, a group of us put in at Bucksport and went up river to Bangor, tied up at the city docks and enjoyed a nice lunch at the Sea Dog Brew pub. Great stretch of winding river. Deep and clean. There’s a Civil War era fort right on the river across from Bucksport., well worth the tour. https://www.fortknoxmaine.com/history-of-the-fort . The Penobscot Narrows Bridge has an observation deck with spectacular views. https://www.maine.gov/mdot/pnbo/

St Lawrence Seaway has allot to see and great fishing also. It would help if you told use what you consider a “long” trip , a few hours , more than a day , over a week, ect. Also how skilled are you handling boat , some of the rivers here in NYS can have a bit of a challenge [some whitewater]

Agree with Todd _____ St Lawrence Seaway, NYS

Many, many, places (ramps) to launch a 14 ft boat and obtain needed any provisions, petrol, bait & tackle… Campsites are abundant at water’s edge bordering rt 12.
